How to Organize a Salt and Light Team in Your Church
1.Determine that your church is interested in beginning a SALT AND LIGHT TEAM.
2. Elect the team according to the policy of your church.
3. Understand the purpose of the team is to inform your church members concerning the moral issues facing your local area, the State of Georgia and the United States.
4. The Salt and Light Team is to speak concerning moral issues only. At no time can the Salt and Light Team endorse candidates for office.
5. Become aware of who your locally elected officials are: City Council, County Commissioners, Mayor, etc. Become aware of the person who is your State Representative in Atlanta, and your State Senator in Atlanta.
6. Communicate with your elected officials concerning your opinions on moral issues.
7. As reports are needed make your church aware of moral issues you have been monitoring.
8. The Ethics and Public Affairs web site has links to the Georgia General Assembly.
9. Stand ready to respond when called upon to stand with other Georgia Baptists on moral issues.
10. Nationally link to the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission for information about what is taking place in Washington, D.C.
