What We Do

At the Church Planting Ministries department of the Georgia Baptist Convention, “What we Do” can be described in four words: Readiness, Enlistment, Equipping and Multiplication.

I.  READINESS: Create an environment for church planting among the entire Georgia Baptist Convention family of churches, pastors and staff, convention staff and laity.

“…but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8, NASB).

Establish a foundational prayer network around the state for church planting and a church planting movement among Georgia Baptists.

Understand and communicate the demographic and cultural contexts that demand a state-wide, cooperative effort in the planting of new churches.

Create and promote a church planting climate among Georgia Baptist churches, pastors and staff, convention servants and lay people.

Exhort churches and church leaders about what it means to be a “missional disciple” and a “missional church.”

“And He was saying to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Luke 10:2, NASB).

Establish a prayer network asking God to send the laborers (Sponsoring Churches, Sponsoring Pastors, Church Planters, Lay-volunteers sent out from their own Churches as missionaries to assist with a Church plant, Coaches and supervisors, Project volunteers, etc.) for a Church Planting movement in Georgia.

IV.  MULTIPLICATION:     Promote and establish a multiplication/reproduction vision and strategy among church planters and church planting teams, sponsoring and partnering churches, associational missionaries, state missionaries, convention staff, and lay leaders. The multiplication/reproduction vision and strategy includes making disciples who make disciples, raising up leaders for church planting, raising up and calling out the “called of God” church planters, staff members, lay leaders and sponsoring partnering churches and pastors across Georgia. The idea is to make disciples who make disciples and to plant churches that will plant churches.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20, NASB).

Establish a prayer network for Disciples, Church Planters, wives, team members, sponsoring and partnering Churches and laity, asking God to bear much fruit through our faithful service in the area of reproducing ourselves by winning the lost, making disciples, raising up leaders, and planting new Churches. Ask God to bring about a Church Planting movement in Georgia.
