In his book, “Live Like A Missionary”, Jeff Iorg poses the question many have ask, “Can God really use me to change lives, build His church, and enlarge His kingdom? His answer – Absolutely yes when you learn to live like a missionary right now, right where you are. All you need to do is accept the assignment.
Where are you? Where do you live, work, or play? That’s your mission field. That is where God has you. God is a Sovereign God who in His omniscience is not surprised with your daily environment. He put you there.
The question for you (as well as me) is do we see it? Are we functioning as a missionary? Have we answered the call? In the old TV series (as well as the recent movies) of Mission Impossible, Mr. Phelps would listen to a tape which toward the end of the message would say, “Your mission, should you choose to accept it…” That’s it! Do you accept the mission?
Iorg continues, “God calls a few believers to be missionaries; He assigns all believers missionary-like responsibilities. A believer who understands God’s mandate to share the gospel, and takes it seriously, will be “on mission” as a natural expression of his or her Christian commitment.”
Paul was a tentmaker, but understood that the moment he was saved he was called. Here is his testimony, “I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power” (Eph. 3:7). Like Paul we are called too to share “the unfathomable riches of Christ.”
Never forget, it’s about people. Jesus came to save people. People are everywhere, you can’t miss them.
