Examine.Encounter.Engage: Last year Charles Drummond, Harris Malcom and I had the privilege of attending the National Church Revitalization Conference held in Orlando, FL. It without doubt was one of the best conferences I ever attended. I recently received a message from them regarding this year’s Conference and was intrigued by part of the article. The International Mission (IMB) and the Greater Orlando Baptist Association (GOBA) are partnering in training Christians in the process of discovering and engaging ethno-linguistic people groups in Florida.
While I do not know all the process of this endeavor, I was stirred as I read part of it as what they are seeking to do is EXACTLY what we have sought to do through the Great Commission Resource Center emphasis. Let me share the three steps I read in the latest message I received:
- Carefully Examine. Through our churches becoming the Great Commission Resource Centers the Lord would have them become, we must become aware of and carefully examine two things: (a) The various Affinity Groups all around us that we have yet to touch. (b) Who it is in your church that already fits that group. Remember, GCRC is simply linking together God’s Purpose with Your Passion.
- Naturally Encounter. That is where (b) comes in from the section above. There are people within your church that encounter people from their particular affinity every day. They just need to be aware of the people God is bringing across their path daily.
- Intentionally Engage. This is probably where we have been and are the weakest. We need to lead our people to realize that God on a regular basis is bringing people across their path on a regular basis that they are not intentionally seeking to reach for the cause of Christ.
If we can assist you and your church as you seek to Examine.Encounter.Engage as a Great Commission Resource Center please let us know.
