I recently heard the story of a young boy who was talking to his pastor about being a Christian. It was very evident that the Lord was working in the boy’s life by the questions he asked and the responses he gave. As the pastor was sharing with the young boy, he told him what it meant to repent of his sins and by faith ask Jesus to come into his heart and take over his life. Finally the boy asked the preacher, “How can He do that? I am so little and He is so big He would run out all over me!” The statement seems a little comical to begin with but then as we think about it, isn’t that is the way we are supposed to be. We are to be so “full of Jesus” that He just runs out all over us. We should be so full of Jesus that people we come in contact with simply see Him in us. As we “rub up against people” in our day to day life, the Jesus in us should touch them as well.
In our day to day activities, in our hobbies, in our times of labor and our times of leisure, we should be so full of Jesus that as we are around friends, family, and work associates, the Jesus in us touches them. The thought of I am so little should remind us of how big God is and all he can do. Somehow I believe that is what Jesus meant in the Great Commission, “As you are going…..” Not just as we go out on visitation. No just when we are making a contact “for our church”. It is something we are to be doing every day as we go through the day, wherever we may be.
The purpose of Great Commission Resource Centers is simply to help you help your people realize how we need to let Jesus “run out all over us” wherever we are and with whomever we are with.
