LIVE SENT is a perspective. It embraces what can take place in spite of our preferences or emotions. It moves beyond walls, borders or cultures. Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria as well as the uttermost are all a part of God’s perspective. His love, passion and focus penetrates the darkness of each of those geographical and cultural locations. Jesus died to redeem every person of any lifestyle from each of those places. There is no one and I mean no one that is beyond the reach of His grace.
LIVE SENT is a mindset. IT REQUIRES THAT I think like a missionary. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” (Phil. 2:5). It is not natural for us to do this. We are by nature (fallen nature) selfish individuals. That is why the mind of Christ must be allowed to operate in us every moment of every day. We must see life and see people through the eyes of Christ. How does Jesus see that person you may despise? How does He see that person who has hurt you deeply? How does He see that person of color or language that your prejudice has you blinded to His marvelous grace and love for them?
David Platt, President of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention recently said, “The Lord has brought people who’ve had little/no access to the gospel who now have access to the gospel, and we’re it.” (Send 2017). Therefore…
LIVE SENT is a willingness to love, go, call home, and be planted wherever and whenever God so desires. Go anywhere, anytime or anyplace that He might lead. Kevin Ezell of NAMB said, “Every day we wake up ought to be a mission trip…we are called to live our lives on mission every day.” That mission trip might be one of many short term ventures. I could result in a life time venture. But you know for most of us it will not require relocation, just recommitment. It requires taking Jesus wherever we go. Take Him fishing, hunting, or shopping. Take Him out to eat, to a ball game or camping. Take Him to work, school or just across the street.
IT REQUIRES THAT I live like a missionary.
