I was reading Spurgeon’s devotion book and read what he said about Romans 14:8, We live unto the Lord. Spurgeon went on to say, “If God had willed it, each of us might have entered Heaven at the moment of salvation.” So why are we still here? The answer is we are here that we may live unto the Lord and that we may bring others to know His love.
Our God is about global redemption. While many of us may never be able to go around the world to share the Gospel with the multitudes of lost, we have the privilege of giving through the greatest missional tool ever devised by man and led by the Holy Spirit, the Cooperative Program.
While we give that others may go, that makes us participants in the purpose of God which is global redemption. But whether we are able to go or not, we have the privilege to participate at home using a method employed by the IMB since the 90s. They refer to it as “Unreached People Groups”. We use the same concept calling it Unreached or Unengaged Affinity Groups. That is put into practice through the realization that our churches are Great Commission Resource Centers. Some are just better at it than others. I believe if our churches will simply engage their culture through reaching unreached affinities we will be astounded at what our God does through us. It has worked on the international mission fields for many years with great success. It will work here and now if we will simply work the concept.
