Tell The Good News: “When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them” (Luke 2:17-20 NASB).
I love Christmas. I love the trees, tinsel, lights, parades, wreaths, cakes, cookies, pies and parties. I don’t even have a problem with the idea of Santa (in its perspective). It is the most wonderful time of the year. With that said…Christmas is about Jesus! It is all about Jesus. It must be all about Jesus. If it isn’t about Jesus it isn’t Christmas.
Jesus came to preach Good News to those who hurt, to heal the broken hearted and to set people free who are in bondage to sin. He came to open the eyes of the spiritually blind that they might see Him as the Light of the World.
It is about Jesus not just on December 25. It must be about Jesus the other 364 days of the year. The shepherds did their part that first Christmas. I don’t know what their religious background was. I don’t know how expectant they were of Messiah’s coming or even cared. I do know that the angel got their attention and that they went, saw, worshipped, left and proclaimed His birth.
