I love to fish! Sometimes I catch a lot. Sometimes I catch only a few little ones. But there are times I catch a fish basket full! I guess you can say it’s a passion of mine. My wife on the other hand does NOT like to fish. She can come up with some good reasons not to go, however, there are times she will give in and go fishing with me.
She goes through all the motions and finds a place to sit on the bank and gets set up. She’ll cast that line in the water and very un-enthusiastically wait…but wait until a fish grabs that hook and she reels in a big fish. Her attitude begins to change. The more she catches the more she wants to fish! When the day is done she usually catches more than me!
The folks in our churches today are much like my wife is when she reluctantly goes fishing. They say they’re too busy to get involved in too much in the church. They come up with many excuses why they can’t witness or be involved in missions. They have no passion where winning the lost of the world is concerned. Many don’t realize how simple and easy it is to “catch” lost sinners.
Any pastor who leads his church to become a Great Commission Resource Center can have those same people turn from their lack of passion into being enthusiastically active in carrying out the Great Commission! They’ll become passionate about winning people locally and globally!! The more people they “catch”, the more they’ll want to catch!
