Jeff has been on the state missions staff for seven years. He serves as campus minister to students attending Valdosta State University and South Georgia College. Please pray for Jeff as he evangelizes, disciples, and trains student leaders on these campuses.
Danny joined the state missions staff in 2005, after many years in the pastorate. As specialist in the Church-Minister Relations office, he oversees a myriad of services, including pastor search training, pastoral counseling, interim and deacon ministries, resume services, committee training and consultation, church administration, conflict mediation, a wellness program, and the Barnabas Ministry to hurting ministers. Please remember Danny as he leads this ministry so vital to our churches and their staffs.
James has served for nine years as campus minister at North Georgia College and State University. One facet of his ministry is that of volunteer chaplain to the cadets on campus. He conducts a Bible study each Wednesday night, through which God has blessed participants and built strong relationships. James asks that Georgia Baptists pray for the cadets as he reaches out and disciples them, and for the other cadet chaplains as he ministers to them.
Karen joined the state missions staff in 2007, and serves as consultant in the WMU area. She assists churches by providing resources, training, and personal consultations to equip leaders for reaching preschoolers, children and youth through age-level mission discipleship programs. She also directs the girls’ summer missions camp at Camp Pinnacle. On her birthday, Karen asks that we pray she will obey the greatest commandment ever connects with church leaders throughout Georgia, she will encourage them to seek a closer relationship with Jesus. Pray she will help leaders see the importance of investing in preschoolers, children and youth so they, too, will pursue a relationship with Jesus and be a part of His plan to reach the nations. Pray His plans for the 2014 summer missions camp at Camp Pinnacle www.camppinnacle.net are realized.
Lauren began her service in 2010 as Campus Minister to students on the Brewton-Parker College campus. Brewton-Parker, located in the South Georgia town of Mount Vernon, is one of our three Georgia Baptist colleges. Lauren shares the following: “During my first to love God with everything she has and is. Pray that as she two years at Brewton-Parker there was a spirit of uncertainty around campus. With recent changes that have been made and the hard work of our administration/faculty/staff, BPC is on the road to putting those years behind us and moving toward a bright future. Pray that our circumstances continue to improve, as they have greatly in the past year, and that our administration leads from the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our faculty teach with enthusiasm, our staff work with a spirit of service, and our students have confidence in our school and pride in their education. Thank you for being a part of the Baron family through your prayers.”
Ted has served Georgia Baptists for many years, and joined the state missions staff in 2002. Formerly a Regional State Missionary, he is now area missionary to the South Central Area of the state. This area includes the Ben Hill-Irwin, Little River and Turner Associations. Ted’s prayer requests are:
- that the churches will work together to further Kingdom Work in our area.
- that the churches will be able to find qualified candidates for bi-vocational and full time pastors, as well as other staff ministries.
- that the three associations will become stronger fiscally (praising God for advances in the past year) as the churches commit to support the work of the association.
- that our Fall meetings will see increased attendance, resulting in great awareness and understanding of the role of the association.
Robert has been on the state mission field for 16 years. He currently serves in Church- Minister Relations as pastoral care consultant. If there is a hurting pastor or church staff member, Robert is quick to respond and offer his Spirit-led compassion, encouragement, prayer support, and assistance. On his birthday, Robert asks that we pray for the needs of hurting Christian ministers and their families. Some have illness, others have been terminated by their churches, and some share the burdens and hardships that others experience. Please pray that Robert will be anointed with the Spirit, wisdom, and compassion of Christ as he ministers to hurting Georgia Baptist ministers and the Georgia Baptist state missions staff.
Steve came to the Georgia Baptist Convention as Music and Worship Consultant in 2007. His work among Georgia Baptists is to serve through the graded choir music ministry, senior adult choirs and to minister to bi-vocational music leaders. Responsibilities include developing a ministry to bi-vocational, part-time and volunteer music ministers, children’s choir leader training, directing Children’s Music Camps and Festivals, directing the Senior Adult Festivals, and serving as the Lifeway Resource Trainer for the New Baptist Hymnal and Lifewayworship.com. Please join Steve in prayer that he will be effective in meeting these responsibilities. His burden is to assist small church music leaders and pastors as they lead their churches in worship each week.
Mike joined the state missions staff in 2011 as consultant in Sunday School and Small Group Ministries, and is available to help congregations reach and disciple people through these entities. Mike has been training leaders in Georgia for several years and has served churches in North Carolina, Arkansas, and Georgia as a Christian Educator for over 26 years. His responsibilities on the SSOGM team include Adult and Youth Sunday School training and consulting, Sunday School training workshops coordinator, SSOGM web page, newsletter & CVENT coordinator, SSOGM webinars coordinator, and small group events/strategies/resources. Mike asks that Georgia Baptists pray for Sunday School training, that it will be taken to the next level. We need to see Sunday Schools effectively reaching people with the gospel as they teach God’s Word. Please also pray for a better understanding of how to work with churches who use Small Groups.
Tony has been on the state missions staff for eight years, and serves in the Church Financial Services area. He assists ministers with salary structures and works with church treasurers in helping ministers maximize resources their churches provide. He also provides financial services support to the Christian Index and WMU, as well as conducting financial reviews for the Baptist Collegiate Ministries offices throughout the state. Please pray for Tony as he provides assistance to pastors and to ministries within the GBC.
Jay has served the state as a consultant in Leadership Ministries for 14 years. He helps facilitate the development of leadership skills of pastors and church staff. His office offers several seminars, and personal consultations or individual workshops are available to church staffs upon request. Jay asks Georgia Baptists to pray for his safety while traveling, spiritual wisdom in working with churches, and for his family when he is absent.
Kelly has served Georgia Baptists for 13 years as a designer. For many years she was the Design Editor for The Christian Index, overseeing all graphic design and illustration for the paper. Kelly is now the Print Media Consultant for Communication Services, leading a graphics team that supports the 32 internal GBC ministries through promotional and event print material that assists departments in carrying out their events successfully. Please remember Kelly as she continues to seek creative, Godly wisdom in furthering the Kingdom through communicating to Georgia Baptists how they can be a part of ministries that reach across our state and beyond.
Jimmy joined the state missions staff this year, serving in Church Planting Ministries. Church Planting works with associations and churches throughout the state to plant culturally relevant churches. Jimmy works specifically in South Georgia to reach those who need the Gospel in that area.
Paulette is the GBC’s statewide literacy missions consultant, having been on staff for 10 years. Her ministry seeks to draw people to the Lord through help in five literacy areas within which the Good News of Jesus Christ is shared with the students:
Alfalit (helping illiterate Hispanic adults learn to read and write in Spanish),
Adult Reading and Writing (teaching semi-literate English-speakers how to read and write), English as a Foreign Language (teaching English abroad on short-term mission trips abroad), English as a Second Language (teaching English to the foreign-born in the U.S.A.), and Tutoring Children and Youth (helping children succeed in and stay in school until they graduate).
Paulette’s prayer requests are:
- For each of us (hundreds of volunteers throughout Georgia) to be clean vessels before the Lord in order to be used by Him to draw more students to Jesus;
- For improved time management skills to effectively minister to increasing numbers of volunteers and students;
- To see more prayer walking and prayer driving taking place in our churches.
Kevin has been on the state missions staff since 2005 and serves as Vice President of Operations. As such, he oversees the work of the following ministry areas: Church Financial Services, Communication Services, Employee Services, Information Services, Research Services and Support Services. Please pray for Kevin as he fulfills the many roles within his areas of responsibility.
ALAN J. MORRIS
Alan joined the state missions staff in 2010 as Area Missionary for the North Central area, which includes 125 churches in the Etowah, Hightower, Lanier, and Roswell Associations. Alan and his staff provide resources and encouragement to the churches and assist in planting new ones. The office provides leadership training for Sunday School teachers, deacon bodies and pulpit search teams, as well as conferences on VBS, Sunday School, IRS church compliance, marriage enrichment and evangelism. A library of discipleship materials for women’s and men’s ministries and other up-to-date deep Bible study classes are also offered. The area office also has an evangelism trailer equipped with everything needed for a mini-carnival, as well as a construction trailer for projects and disaster relief. The staff assists churches in local and overseas missions projects, providing contacts, training, and scheduling. A resource room includes study materials for bi-vocational pastors and lay leaders to assist in enhancing their weekly presentations. Please pray for Alan and the North Central staff as they reach people and assist churches in their area.
David has served 17 years as a campus minister through the Collegiate Ministries Department. He currently ministers to students at Shorter University in Rome and at Dalton State College in Dalton. Please pray for David as he works to evangelism, disciple and train up student leaders for Christ.

Moses has been on the state mission field for 30 years, serving as Hispanic Missionary to North Georgia. He works with individuals, churches and associations to locate Hispanics, identify their needs, establish Hispanic congregations and assist them in finding and training church planters and leaders to expand the Kingdom in Georgia and the world. He also works with various GBC ministry areas to provide growing existing Hispanic congregations in Georgia with useful materials and programs in Spanish. Moses brings the following requests:
- Pray for Hispanic congregations in Georgia, as the precarious economic situation continues to mostly affecting lower economic groups in which Hispanics are found.
- Praise God that our Hispanic congregations join church planting movements to reach more Hispanics with the Gospel.
- Pray for the new Hispanic core group for a new church plant in Waynesboro and regular services at their jail.
- Pray for the new Hispanic Mission of North Georgia in Dalton using the facilities of Calvary Baptist Church.
- Praise the Lord for participants during this year’s Hispanic Basic Training and their dedication to continue seeking God’s lead in their lives in starting new house/cell churches.
- Pray for Hispanics in the Roswell area without an effective outreach with the Gospel.
- Pray for new ethnic leadership development centers in Georgia.
Doug has served Georgia Baptists for 29 years, and is specialist in the Youth Ministries area. His office serves to strengthen youth ministries in local churches and to lead students to know Jesus in a personal way and grow in service to Him. The Youth Ministries staff provides networks and conferences for youth ministers, and large-scale evangelistic youth events throughout the state. Doug asks for prayer that the thousands of students attending the Move Conference in December will be impacted for Christ, resulting in many salvations and decisions.
Jon joined our communication services department in 2007 as an electronic media associate consultant. He is a video producer and one of his ongoing assignments is the editing of the biweekly video email featuring Dr. White and various GBC ministries. He also assists in production of the State Missions Report videos and other video projects throughout the year. Jon provides assistance with many of the needs other staff have with media related technology, and he also works alongside the rest of the communications services team to tell the story of the great work Georgia Baptists are doing around the state to advance God’s Kingdom. Jon requests prayer for wisdom as he crafts scripts, shoots and edits video, and deploys these stories to motivate and inspire those around our state and abroad who, like you, are partnering with the GBC to serve Christ and build healthy kingdom churches. Jon also covets your prayers as he leads his family by honoring Christ and being an on-mission believer.
Eddy has been a state missionary for 16 years. He serves as specialist in Communication Services. In his position he oversees all materials production, video, web site, consultation, marketing/promotional strategies, external/internal publications, and handles media requests. Eddy requests prayer for the department’s ministry through both print and electronic media. Pray that lives will be touched as we help promote the various ministries and events of the GBC.
Keith has served Georgia Baptists for 15 years and oversees the Church Financial Services ministry. This ministry provides an integrated biblical ministry of legal, insurance, retirement, investment, and tax assistance to the local church and its staff. Many workshops are offered, as well as staff compensation studies and regular financial newsletters, to help keep the church current in all of the above areas. On his birthday, Keith requests prayer for financial life of the Georgia Baptist Convention churches. Times are tough economically. Churches are having to make difficult decisions concerning their budgets. Please pray for Keith as he helps guide churches to make financial choices concerning paying their staff. Please also pray for the ministers and church employees with whom Keith works who have seen their retirement savings drop significantly. Pray that Keith will have the wisdom and insight to help these co-labors of the harvest.
Chad serves through Baptist Collegiate Ministries as campus minister to students attending Clayton State University and Perimeter Colleges’ Newton Campus. Please pray for Chad and his efforts to reach and disciple collegians for Christ.
Toby has been on staff for 20 years and serves as the Convention’s Vice President for Finance. His office, Convention Financial Services, administers all gifts, registration fees, and disbursements of checks for ministry in Georgia and around the world. It supports Georgia Baptists by recording and reporting church gifts, performing all accounting and auditing functions, distributing all funds for approved Convention ministries, and providing Convention risk management services. Toby asks that Georgia Baptists pray for the Cooperative Program, our channel of giving, and its mission to reach our world collectively for Christ.
Glen has served Georgia Baptists for nearly 14 years, and is specialist in the Men’s Ministries area. His office seeks to involve men and boys in missions through education and personal involvement. Glen oversees these efforts, while providing guidance to Camp Kaleo, serving as state On Mission Celebration Director, Church Lay Renewal Director, and conducting retreats and spiritual development conferences for men. On his birthday, Glen requests prayer in the following areas:
- For the department’s partnership with churches and associations aimed at strengthening their men and families, who will in turn strengthen the church for Great Commission fulfillment.
- That staff will successfully develop the Comprehensive Men’s Ministries Team Strategy in Churches and Associations in Georgia, resulting in more men, young men and boys learning about and engaging in missions through their churches.
- That God will keep us focused on our “20/20 Vision for 100,000 Decisions” to see the men’s ministries of our 3,600-plus churches win the lost men of their communities to Christ.
Tony has served as a campus minister for 18 years. He ministers to students through Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Columbus State University, LaGrange College, and Andrew College. Please pray for Tony’s effectiveness in reaching students for Christ and in helping them grow in their Christian walks. Pray for new believers in those fellowships and their discipleship processes. Pray for teams of spring missionaries who will travel and serve through mission experiences in March and April. Pray for our student leaders to exemplify Christ in their daily lives and leadership!
Pray for your State Missionaries
Mike joined state missions service in 2008 as Regional State Missionary to the Southeast Georgia area. A former pastor, he now provides a GBC presence in this region, assisting churches in twenty-six associations in South Georgia. Mike requests prayer for the Southeast Region as he and associational missionaries work through the Peace Making Material for assisting churches in conflict, and as training for interim pastors. He believes this study can have a tremendous impact.
Cyndi has served as the campus minister at Georgia Tech for 8 years and at Emory University for 5 years, encouraging students to actively live out their personal relationships with God. She requests prayer for students as they finish the semester. Pray that they will be mindful of the importance of academics, but continue to let God be the driving force in their lives. Pray for continued opportunities to share Jesus on campus with other students with authentic and meaningful moments.
Warren has served state missions for 28 years, and is campus minister at Georgia Tech. Please pray for the ministry of BCM as staff and students grow together in Christ and reach out to those on campus who don’t yet know Him. Pray for students who are becoming adults. Pray for their hearts and minds, hands and feet. Pray for wisdom and willingness. Pray for their ability to focus and learn and to apply what they learn.
As your students leave home for campus life, please connect them with the BCM campus minister on that campus. BCM is the cooperative campus ministry of Southern Baptists and serves as the bridge between local church and campus life.
Steve has served state missions for 15 years, and is Vice President of Staff Coordination and Development. His new role, which began in the Fall of 2012, is to provide leadership of all GBC staff to align around the vision of the Five Smooth Stones. The five stones are Spiritual Renewal, Kingdom Generosity, Church Revitalization, Church Planting, and Authentic Evangelism. Steve’s functions include staff training, coordination of strategy, leadership of staff meetings, and leadership of the Five Smooth Stones workgroups. On his birthday, Steve asks Georgia Baptists to pray for Georgia churches to embrace the vision of the Five Smooth Stones and to seek renewal in the lives of all members. Please pray that God would pour out His Spirit upon our state and that we would see more people than ever before come to know Jesus Christ as Savior.
Barry serves as a State Missionary on GBC’s new Media Strategy team. The web has become a daily gathering place for the world and Barry has a unique desire to leverage the emerging opportunities of the web to support Georgia Baptists’ mission of reducing lostness in Georgia. Barry’s request is that God would bless him with His favor, wisdom and guidance. With God’s blessings, Barry will be able to fully implement strategies that advance the God-honoring work of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
Doug has served on the GBC staff for 11 years as area missionary in the Mountain Area of our state. He provides assistance to churches in the following associations: Hiawassee, New Union, Notla River and White County. Please pray for Doug and his ministry to churches in these areas.
Nathan is a campus minister, and has served in collegiate ministry for 24 years. He works with students at the University of Georgia, leading them to Christ and encouraging them to grow spiritually and serve others. Nathan asks that we pray for the annual BCM Dinner Theatre, held the last weekend in February. This year over 50 students will be helping to plan, audition, practice, direct, choreograph, perform, and prepare all the food for this event, which raises $10,000 for the state collegiate Summer Missions fund. Nathan’s prayer is that God will be glorified through this endeavor, that ample funds will be raised, and that many students will be able to take their faith to other places as witnesses for Christ this summer.
Alan serves as the specialist in the Discipleship Ministries Department. His primary focus is to partner with churches, associations, and regions to strategically engage in making and equipping fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Alan previously served Georgia Baptists as a consultant in Sunday School/Small Group Ministries. Please pray for Alan as he assists churches in the ministers of discipleship.
Randy rejoined the GBC staff this year, after serving as pastor in Tucson, Arizona. Please pray for Randy and the Evangelism Ministries staff as they work to win others to our Lord and Savior.
Pray for your State Missionaries
An Van Pham
Dr. Pham has served as a state missionary for 16 years, and ministers to Georgia’s Asian Indian and Indian subcontinent population. Subcontinent people groups include Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankans and Nepali. These populations continue to grow in our state, as does the number of Muslim mosques and Hindu temples. Dr. Pham’s ministry encourages, leads, assists, and works with churches, associations and individuals to evangelize, minister, and establish new work with Asian groups. He also provides ministry resources, locates and mentors new church planters, and furnishes awareness and training conferences in cultural background, witnessing and ministry. A weekly radio program in the Hindustani language is provided, as well as scriptures in the sixteen main languages of India and the Indian subcontinent. Please pray for Dr. Pham as he reaches Asian Indians in our state.
Marcus joined State Missions staff in 2009 as a consultant in Evangelism Ministries. He now serves in the Church-Minister Relations area. Among his responsibilities are equipping pastor search teams, conflict mediation and pastoral care. Marcus requests prayer for unity in our churches and healing for hurting pastors and their families.
Frank has served as a state missionary for 21 years, and is specialist in the Associational Missions/Disaster Relief/Mobilization Ministries area. He works with the 93 associations in our state to develop relationships and create partnerships with associational missionaries. He provides leadership, training, and resources to the associational missionaries and works to equip their areas of ministry. His department also has responsibility for Disaster Relief, Bivocational Ministries, Continuing Education, Church and Community Ministries, Penfield Christian Home, HEART Ministry, resort ministries, and mobilization of volunteers to serve with Appalachian Regional Ministries and on the Appalachian Trail. Please pray for Frank and the many vital ministries he oversees.
Brian serves in Youth Ministries, reaching our young people for Christ. Youth Ministries conducts several large conferences each year, including SuperWows at Jekyll Island and Fort Walton Beach and the MOVE conference during the Christmas break. Please pray for Brian and the Youth Ministries staff as they minister to our youth.
Bryan has been a consultant in Research Services since 2001. He assists with reporting the Annual Church Profile (ACP) and observing statistical trends. One of his greatest passions is helping congregations better understand the people who live within their areas so that they can better influence and impact unchurched neighbors, using demographic information. Bryan is also involved in the church planting movement in Georgia, and encourages churches to multiply themselves by partnering with and/or starting new congregations locally and abroad. Please pray that God will use Bryan to help churches better understand how they can connect with unchurched and unreached people and more effectively communicate the Gospel of Christ in Georgia’s culturally rich and diverse environment.
Franklin serves as campus minister at the University of Georgia, and has been on staff there for 23 years. He and the other campus ministers at UGA reach students through evangelism, missions activities and education, discipleship and leadership development. Franklin requests prayer for the following BCM ministries: Winter Mission trip, Dinner Shows to raise funds for summer missions, the spring break mission trip, BCM’s leadership team, and the New Dawg Team ministry.
Stacy joined the state missions staff last year as consultant in Church Revitalization and Leadership. Please pray for Stacy as he works with churches in these areas.
PrayGa2014 will be a series of prayer meetings across Georgia. Dr. White and other GBC staff will be leading these informal meetings, asking the Father to send Spiritual renewal to our pastors. churches and associations throughout Georgia. Please join with us in prayer on these dates if location and schedule permits.
Pray for your State Missionaries
Keith has served for 9 years as consultant in Music and Worship Ministries. His tasks include Instrumental Ministries, Orchestra and Handbell Ministries, Youth Choirs, Summer Youth Music Camps, and the Georgia Baptist All State Youth Choir, Orchestra and Ensemble. Keith is involved in planning the All State Youth Choir and Orchestra and asks that we pray for this event. Keith is also involved in the Sons of Jubal, a group of 150 ministers of music from Georgia. He asks that we pray for him as he prepares for this year’s Youth I and II Music Camps, that many students might be called to full time ministry and salvation. Continue also to pray for Keith as he travels to support music and worship ministries throughout Georgia.
Clarissa is now serving as Collegiate Missions Coordinator after having served for 12 years as campus minister to students at Valdosta State University. Clarissa asks for prayer for the students from colleges and universities across the state of Georgia who have applied for BCM summer missions and will be interviewed in February. Please be in prayer for these students as they make decisions concerning their summer, as summer missions changes lives! Also be in prayer for all the BCM students planning to serve through Spring Break Missions next month. Again, missions change lives, so Praise God for how He is already working in the lives of these students and how He will continue to work through them on the mission field.
Donna is a campus minister and has served on the state missions staff for 35 years! She works with students on the Georgia Southern University campus, as well as those at East Georgia College. Please pray for Donna as she prepares to lead a team of students from the Georgia Southern University and East Georgia College BCM’s on a spring break mission trip.
Pray for your State Missionaries
Tim has served Georgia Baptists for 17 years as specialist in the Information Services office. He and the IS staff support the information and technology needs within the GBC staff, Baptist agencies and institutions, associations and churches. The GBC staff is supported with an IT infrastructure and services consisting of the computer network, email system, phone system, information security, internet services, smartphone support, training, hardware, software, as well as the church and church leadership database system. His office also supports the SBC and GBC annual convention registration process. Please pray for Tim and his department as it meets the informational needs so critical to efficient ministry in our state.
Jonathan has been with the Georgia Baptist Convention since January 2010 and serves in the Sunday School/Small Groups area. His primary responsibilities there relate to the promotion and equipping of small groups and small group leaders. Prior to this move Jonathan served in the Evangelism Ministries & Discipleship Ministries. His focus with the Discipleship was adult discipleship, disciple-making strategies, equipping leaders and small group leadership. His responsibilities included facilitating and resourcing associational and church leaders in “strategically making disciples and equipping them to be fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ”. Jonathan also brought that same conviction for those who don’t know Christ to Evangelism Ministries. Personal Evangelism, Team Evangelism, Servant/Ministry Evangelism were his focus as he sought to equip leaders around the state and equip them to “reduce lostness” in Georgia. Please pray for Jonathan as he continues his ministry to our GBC churches.
Tim has been a State Missionary for 15 years, and presently serves as specialist in the Sunday School/Open Group Ministries. As such, he is the primary administrative leader for the staff and ministry of the Sunday School/Open Groups Ministries. Tim also assists churches in the areas of growth planning, leadership conferences, outreach strategies, and leadership development. Each year, he works with hundreds of Georgia Baptist churches and leaders to assist them in fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.
One of the task assignments Tim coordinates is the Sunday School Mentoring process with participating regions, associations and churches. Another area that he provides leadership is the annual Church Facility EXPO. He also trains Church Facility Consultants to assist those churches that wish to expand their buildings. He is the department’s LifeWay liaison and works with the Multicultural and Ethnic Mission Sunday Schools. Tim also conducts an annual survey of the fastest growing Sunday Schools in Georgia.
Tim requests prayer for the following:
1. Travel – Pray for Tim’s safety as he travels all over Georgia and the United States speaking in churches and training leaders.
2. Leadership – Pray for Tim in his role as the Sunday School/Open Group Ministries Specialist, that he provides the leadership needed to guide the team in accomplishing their purpose, goals and vision.
3. Effectiveness – Pray for Tim’s effectiveness in leading churches to see their Sunday Schools and small group ministries as tools to reach the lost and equip the saved.
Cindy serves as administrator in the Youth Ministries Department, and has been on staff for 14 years. She manages finances for the department and the many youth events it sponsors. She is also the logistics coordinator for these mega events, the largest of which are the summer SuperWOW camps for middle and high school students. Other youth events include Impact and the MOVE Conference. Conferences for youth ministers are also provided, both in-state and throughout the Southeastern US. Cindy requests prayer for the upcoming summer events – Impact, SuperWOW and MERGE, that students will be reached for Christ.
Jerry has served state missions for 36 years and is specialist in the Intercultural Church Planting and Missions Ministries area. His department helps churches and associations evangelize, equip, minister, and establish new work with language/culture people, non- readers, and the blind. Staff state missionaries work with Hispanics, Asians, Koreans and the deaf to support new and established ministries. Printed Bibles and scripture on cassette tapes are available in more than 35 languages! Continuing education classes are offered in several languages, as well as for the deaf. A migrant ministry is in place for seasonal farm workers. A literacy missions consultant is on staff who seeks to draw people to the Lord in five literacy areas. Finally, a mobile medical and dental unit operates from February through November across the state, providing service to migrants and other underserved populations. Jerry asks that Georgia Baptists pray for churches in ethnically changing areas of our state, as they become multi-ethnic congregations. Ask God to give them the ability to transform to meet the needs of their new and changing communities. Also pray for new part time workers being sought for ministry among the Deaf, Haitians, Africans and Multi ethnic churches.
Maria has been a state missionary for 16 years, serving in the Discipleship Ministries area. This department is committed to partnering with churches, associations, and regions to strategically engage in making disciples and equipping them to be fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Maria disciples children, students, and leaders through her ministry in the following areas: Childrens, Youth, and High School Bible Drills; Student Speakers Competition; preschool and children’s discipleship; and TeamKID. On her birthday, Maria asks Georgia Baptists to be in prayer for the children and youth involved in Bible Drill this spring. Her desire is that the verses they memorize will help them grow in their relationship with Christ and have a life-long impact. Also, please pray that churches and parents in Georgia see and act upon the vital need for children and youth to develop Bible skills, to hide God’s Word in their hearts, and learn to share their faith in order to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
