REGISTRATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 3, 2025
Bringing Help, Hope, & Healing! Transforming lives with the Gospel.
Disaster Relief Introduction (DRI) is required for all first-time volunteers and all Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteers needing recertification.
The DRI consists of two sessions:
- Session 1 – Friday Night (6:00 – 9:00 PM): This is an introduction to the ministry of Disaster Relief.
- Session 2 – Saturday Morning (8:00 – 10:00 AM or 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM for Chaplaincy and Feeding): Training in the specific ministry area.
During the online registration, choose from one of following:
- Chaplaincy: In the wake of loss and uncertainty, many seek hope and reassurance. Our trained Chaplains offer spiritual support, compassionate listening, and the hope of Christ to those navigating emotional and spiritual challenges. (You do not need to be a Pastor to be a Disaster Relief Chaplain.)
- Cleanup & Recovery: After the storm passes, the restoration work begins. Volunteers assist with tasks like debris removal, tree clearing, and minor repairs – bringing relief and helping families move toward recovery.
- Family Care: Family Care volunteers serve directly with affected households, helping meet personal needs, offering follow-up care, and ministering through both practical assistance and the love of Christ.
- Feeding: In times of crisis, one of the most immediate needs is nourishment. Our Feeding Teams are trained to prepare and distribute meals efficiently, providing physical sustenance and a tangible expression of God’s love to those in need.
- Shower/Laundry Units: Access to basic hygiene can restore dignity and comfort during a disaster. Our teams offer shower and laundry services to individuals and families as they wait for essential utilities to return.
NOTE: During the online registration, you have the opportunity to register to cross train in an additional ministry area on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
EXCEPTIONS:
- If training in Chaplaincy or Feeding, you will NOT be able to cross train on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
- THOSE RECERTIFYING IN FEEDING ONLY: If you are recertifying in Feeding, you may train in a second ministry area (except for Chaplaincy, Assessment, or IMT) at 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM by “walking in” without preregistering for this 8:00 AM -10:00 AM time period.
