Disaster Relief Introduction: Waycross (For First Time Attendees, Recertification, and Cross Training)

Disaster Relief Introduction (DRI) trainings offer the following opportunities.
- First Time Attendees: Anyone who has never been a credentialed Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer.
- Recertification: For any credentialed Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer whose badge has expired or will expire in the current year. (Required every five years.)
- Cross Training: For currently active volunteers (badge has not expired) who would like to cross train in additional ministry areas.
- Rebuild ONLY: For anyone who would like to help rebuild after the storm has passed and clean-up is complete. Rebuild training alone will not satisfy the credentialling process.
The DRI consists of two sessions.
- Session 1 – Friday Night (6:00 – 9:00 PM): This is an introduction to the ministry of Disaster Relief, as well as an update for Recertification.
- Session 2 – Saturday Morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Training in the specific ministry area of your choice.
During online registration, choose from one of the following ministry areas (prerequisites apply to some).
- Assessment:
Prerequisite: Deployment Experience
Assessment volunteers are the first point of contact after a disaster. They evaluate damage, complete detailed reports and help determine the scope of work needed—ensuring teams are prepared to serve effectively. - Chaplaincy:
In the wake of loss and uncertainty, many seek hope and reassurance. Our trained Chaplains offer spiritual support, compassionate listening, and the hope of Christ to those navigating emotional and spiritual challenges. (You do not need to be a Pastor to be a Disaster Relief Chaplain.) - Cleanup & Recovery:
After the storm passes, the restoration work begins. Volunteers assist with tasks like debris removal, tree clearing, and minor repairs—bringing relief and helping families move toward recovery. - Family Care:
Family Care volunteers serve directly with affected households, helping meet personal needs, offering follow-up care, and ministering through both practical assistance and the love of Christ. - Feeding:
In times of crisis, one of the most immediate needs is nourishment. Our Feeding Teams are trained to prepare and distribute meals efficiently, providing physical sustenance and a tangible expression of God’s love to those in need. - Heavy Equipment Safety:
Prerequisite: Operational Experience
This team operates specialized machinery—including skid steers, tractors, and man lifts—to safely remove large debris and open access for other recovery efforts. - IMT (Incident Management Team):
Prerequisite: Deployment Experience
Effective response requires strong coordination. Incident Management leaders oversee operations, manage logistics, track resources, and ensure that each team is equipped to serve with excellence and efficiency. - Rebuild:
Rebuilding a home means restoring a sense of normalcy. Volunteers support long-term recovery by assisting with construction projects, helping families begin anew with a foundation of hope. - Shower/Laundry Units:
Access to basic hygiene can restore dignity and comfort during a disaster. Our teams offer shower and laundry services to individuals and families as they wait for essential utilities to return.
FEE: First Time Attendees: $45; Recertification: $25; Cross Training: $25; Rebuild ONLY: free

Your information is held securely by the Fellowship One system. This information will remain private and will never be given away to third parties, other than to process your scheduled payments.
