Easter Sunday Has Passed… Now What?
By Brad Marchman
Easter Sunday is powerful. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus—the greatest event in human history. Churches are full. Hope is high. Faith feels fresh.
Then… the next Sunday comes.
Attendance dips. Energy drops. And many leaders quietly wonder, “Was that it?”
But what if Easter wasn’t the finish line…
What if it was the launching point?
What if instead of celebrating one big Sunday, we stepped into a new normal of ongoing Gospel impact?
A shift in mindset can change everything.
Instead of measuring Easter as a moment, we can leverage it as momentum. Imagine setting a goal that your Easter attendance becomes your new normal. That kind of vision pushes us forward and keeps us from settling.
So how do we move from a moment to a movement?
- Build an Invite Culture
Start weeks before Easter by mobilizing your people. Encourage them to:
- Identify lost friends and family
- Pray for them by name
- Personally invite them
When your church sees inviting as their mission, not just the pastor’s, everything changes.
- Take the Next Step in Evangelism
After Easter, don’t stop—equip.
Offer simple evangelism training to help people:
- Build relationships intentionally
- Recognize Gospel opportunities
- Share their faith with confidence
People who saw God work through an invitation are often ready for more.
- Celebrate Life Change Publicly
Plan a Baptism Sunday soon after Easter.
Celebrate decisions. Share stories. Create momentum.
Nothing fuels a church like seeing lives transformed.
The Goal?
That the excitement of Easter doesn’t fade—it multiplies.
When evangelism becomes a lifestyle instead of an event, the church moves from occasional impact to ongoing mission.
And year after year, you’ll see God do more than you imagined.
Reflection Questions:
- Did our church treat Easter as a moment or a mission?
- Who did I personally invite, pray for, or follow up with?
- What is one next step I can take to be more intentional in sharing my faith?
- What would it look like for our church to make evangelism a daily focus?
Action Steps:
✔ Write down 3 people in your life who need Jesus
✔ Pray for them daily this week
✔ Reach out and start or continue a conversation
✔ Invite them to coffee, church, or a simple gathering
✔ Ask your church how you can be equipped to share your faith
Final Thought:
Easter isn’t the end of the story…
It’s the beginning of the mission.
Let’s not go back to normal.
Let’s step into what God wants to do next.
